Quickstart
This walks through the shortest path from a fresh install to a cited answer and a reviewed document. It assumes you have installed Olyvr.
1. Connect a model
Section titled “1. Connect a model”-
Open Settings → Model access.
-
Pick one:
- ChatGPT or Claude subscription. Under Subscriptions, choose your provider and sign in. ChatGPT shows a code to enter at a sign-in page; Claude opens a sign-in page in your browser. Details
- An API endpoint. Open Endpoint & advanced and enter a base URL and API key for any OpenAI-compatible provider. Details
-
Back in a chat, the model picker in the composer lists the models your connection offers.
2. Import your files
Section titled “2. Import your files”-
Open Workspace from the sidebar.
-
Add files or a folder. Olyvr reads PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Markdown, CSV, HTML, JSON and plain text files and indexes their text.
-
Wait for the source to show as ready. Each source shows how many documents it contains.
To pull in mail and cloud files, connect an account instead. See Connect accounts.
3. Ask a question
Section titled “3. Ask a question”Start a New chat and ask something your files can answer, for example:
What did we agree with the supplier about notice periods?
Olyvr shows its progress as it works: searching, reading documents, and writing. The answer cites the documents it used. Click a citation to open that document beside the chat.
4. Draft and review a document
Section titled “4. Draft and review a document”Ask for something to keep:
Draft a reply to the supplier confirming the 30-day notice period.
-
The draft opens in the document panel as proposed changes.
-
Accept or reject each change, or use Accept all. Edit the text directly if you like.
-
Export it as Word, PDF or Markdown. Use the Clean / Redline toggle to export a Word file with tracked changes.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Organize related chats and documents into projects.
- Tell Olyvr how you like things done with memory and preferences.
- Add repeatable playbooks with skills, or tools with plugins.
